Prom night consisted of two key elements. Bel Biv Devoe and this movie.

Yeah that’s right. Instead of going to prom I went to the early concert showing of Bel Biv Devoe (they did two in one night), then went to see Soapdish ALONE because it was too early to go home. Then went to a local yogurt shop and ate again… ALONE while watching couples coming from their prom get dessert on their way to a hotel where they were sure to have the night of their lives. Right? Prom night is supposed to be the best night of your life where all things magical happen…you’re supposed to become a woman…and you get the cutest boy to fall in love with you…and the dress you’ve been sewing all by yourself is adored by everyone…right right? I keep watching Carrie to remind me that’s not always the case but jesus I’ll never know. Yeah you can hear the bitterness can’t you?

Interesting. Less Than Zero was the first rated R movie that I snuck into with much glee. Soapdish was the one beacon of happiness on a rather sad night. Robert Downey Jr. was “with me” on some pretty seminal moments of my upbringing. I think I’ve pinpointed why I like him so much.
