I think at first you’re bound together by the hatred of a crap job. Then you realize “Oh we feel the same way about this sh*tty experience. What other things do we feel the same about?” Then you accidentally graze each other’s hands, you feel like vomiting because you like each other so much but can’t say anything, then you figure out how to randomly have lunch at the same time, then maybe…just maybe you’ll go out. And get married. And buy a big friggin couch where all you do is lie next to each other while watching Big Bang Theory.

So when I hear stories like this I know I’m not alone.

Ok. Back to divorce and how it messes up the kids for life….(I’m kidding Mom, it’s all good)…The one great thing about divorce is your parents feel incredibly guilty and they do things that no sane parent would do.

Like take you to see a double feature of Aliens and The Fly 2.

I was 15. My brother was 10. I know. That seems SO OLD these days. 15-year-olds today have seen things that would be considered XXX back in the 80s. But trust me, back then if you were under 18 you really didn’t watch rated R movies. At least not in my Asian house. (The first rated R movie that I snuck into was “Less than Zero” and that blew my precious pure mind but that’s another story).

We saw these previews and said “Hey Dad, can we see Aliens?”
My Dad “Of course. Hey it’s playing with the Fly 2. Pack a lunch.”

Who cares about missing daylight for 5+ hours when you’ve got aliens and genetic experiments gone wrong?
Game over, man. Game over.

To make this outing even more bonkers crazy awesome….we saw it in the Cinerama Dome in LA. For a kid that’s awesome. That’s where friggin E.T. premiered.

So. Yeah. I’m a bit excited about the new Prometheus movie. Of course it’s about the aliens and god knows what else Ridley Scott will come up with…. but it also reminds me of my dad and how for several hours being a kid of divorced parents wasn’t bad at all.

It was kind of awesome.

Having access to very little of these things I did what I could. My attempt at this style came out like this.

Yeah. The polo peaking out of the sweater doesn’t make sense now but back then it was critical.

And note on the back of this fine denim jacket was a peace sign completely made up of safety pins.

Normally I carry a big fat mother of a wallet with every damn rewards card in existence but because of that “awesome” experience of a gun being pointed to my head, I dont take it with me everywhere.

Every morning when I go out I ask myself “is there a chance I will get mugged today” and if I even think “hey possibly?” I leave my fat wallet behind and pick up my Tyvek wallet.

And every time I use my Tyvek wallet someone asks me about it. Typically it’s a woman. And it’s usually when I’m standing in front of them buying a Fraiche or a burrito.

The two things I seem to be eating alot these days.

I’ve had this wallet for over 5 years and I forget that it is kind of unique. You would too. Look at it. It looks like a newspaper. No big deal.

But LOOK. It’s a full fledged wallet! With panels and everything.

I don’t think guys can use this because they like to have huge leather wads in their pockets.

I was browsing around to see new Tyvek wallets that are out and this one stood out.

Look at it. It’s a NYC subway map AND a wallet . How perfect is that?

And it’s only $15. So if someone puts a gun to your head, you hand this wallet over, and all is well. You can buy another. You’re worth it.

I might forgive this obvious call for cash completely if you fix the one detail on your website that hurts me as much as when I see people wear Crocs with socks and shorts out in public.

It’s how you do your dates. Who told you that doing your dates this way was a good idea?

Perhaps some hipster design guru told you that the look of dates just didn’t flow well with the look of the page?
Maybe this person said “hey instead of numbers why don’t you write out the words like september twelfth two thousand and twelve?” You know it’s wrong but this design person had a really awesome jaunty fair trade scarf and you thought to yourself “I should trust this person. This person knows things I don’t.”

It’s like being told you look amazing in a nautical,vertical stripes, vintage, mini dress. You know it doesn’t make sense on you because you’re a 38 year old grown woman, but the salesperson is cute, he’s wearing skinny jeans,  and he’s telling you you look cute, so it must be a good idea. Right?

No. Ars Technica. No. You are asking me to count backwards 7 months ago from today’s date to figure out the exact date of this article. That is a waste of EVERYONES time. I sorta forgave you because if I moused over the date a ? symbol came up and when I clicked on it, it gave me the real date. Now you’ve disengaged that featured. WTF. If I pay $50 a year will you give me back that feature?

Ok so if today is February 15, and I have to go back 7 months….1, 2,3,4…oh forget it. Is there another article similar to this on Wired?

I don’t listen to the radio since my favorite electronic dance station died so I only know what’s popular from D’s dance class and from my Rdio friends.

Things take time for me. I didn’t get into Radiohead until “In Rainbows” and that’s primarily because of Twilight.
Yeah. I got into Radiohead because of Twilight. Not because of Radiohead’s cool factor. But because of vampires.

So this week everyone’s been talking about how Adele’s one particular song makes you cry. And I get it.

Dear god if I was 16 she would have been my Tori Amos. I don’t even know how many times I cried to this song.

And good god Damien Rice. This would make me sit in a corner rocking back and forth crying “One day he’ll love me. One day. BWWAAAAAAAAA”

So yeah. Tori. Damien Rice. And now Adele.
Their songs instantly wreck me. It’s like somebody decided to turn on this particular scene from Bridges of Madison County.

BOOM. Tears.

So I’m jumping on the Adele bandwagon to my husband’s dismay because now I’m going to be listening to completely tragic songs all the time with him wondering what did I do? And really nothing’s wrong. I just really like sad songs and sad movies. I can still be quite pleasant about it. Look at this interview with Adele. Her songs are friggin bleak but she seems like she’d be awesome over lunch.
